(listening to: Crooked Fingers: Red Devil Dawn)

Hallelujah! After a a worried delay, my patience paid off and my new minidisc player arrived today. No more bad radio! No more listening to stupid conversations about bad movies! Instead, I get to rock out in the warehouse, make excuses to sweep the sidewalk so I can turn up the music, and review records at work again. Today is a damned good day.

Laid low last night, curled up on the couch with MRA and the cat and rented The Wicker Man, which neither of us had seen before. It's a pretty funny movie, and even funnier when you realize it's supposed to be a horror film. We laughed quite a bit and joked around about all the silly pagan rituals the townspeople engage in. Although I wouldn't say it's a great movie, it's worth seeing. The song that plays over and over in the beginning is hilarious, sort of like a Nick Drake song crossed with "Stonehenge" by Spinal Tap. Classic.

Phil Spector's had quite a tough day, eh? First there's news that "Let It Be" is going to be re-released with his production stripped off, and then he gets himself arrested for murdering a woman. Rock and roll, baby.

(listening to: Lilys: A Brief History Of Amazing Letdowns)

Another Sunday afternoon recovering from Saturday night. Ah, we're so competitive when it comes to charades. The downside to my four-hour charade marathon last night was the 26-ish (!!!) block walk home through Oakland at 5:30 AM, stumbling in the door around 6:00 AM, and then falling asleep on the couch with a full bowl of vegetarian chili sitting on the table in front of me. Oh, the joys of life!

Check out the newly redesigned Grandaddy website. I love love love the design. While you're over there check out the video for "The Crystal Lake," which includes a bear who rocks out with the band. Yeah, love the Modesto action.

While you're internetting around, also check out the Jackson 5 circa 1971 on their tiny motorcyles. If I had one of those, I'd try and make a living travelling the country riding in parades or something (link via Sharpeworld).

I want me a bowl of soup.
