:: 5.31.2003 :: (listening to: Spiritualized: Amazing Grace)
I'm out of here. Our show last night was a lot of fun, it was crazy sweaty and hot up on stage but that only seemed to bring the rock even more so. If you're around one of our tour stops, you should come down and say hello. Ciao, Oaktown.

Sitting here on a slow day at work all full of Indian food, trying not to fall asleep on my desk
as I was the minutes tick tick tick away. Got all packed for tour last night, so I'm pretty much
ready to head out the door and hit the road.
I'll be glad to leave work behind, but a little sad to say goodbye to the kitties and MRA, again.
Holy crawdaddy, was that a long, long weekend. Drove down to Los Angeles on Friday evening with
a stop in Modesto to buy a new trailer for the upcoming Communiqué tour. Saturday morning we got
up (early for us, really) and drove down to Long Beach to film our first video. It was fun, but
a ton of work. Now when I watch those "Making Of The Video" shows, I know how they feel at the end
of ten hours of filming, and ours was just for a small budget video shoot. However, I was extremely
happy with the crew and how things looked, and I can't wait for the finished product.
Our director, Lex Halaby, did some amazing things, and he gets a boatload of thanks from the lot
of us. You can read
an interview with him on musicvideowire.com, which, incidentally, filmed a "Making Of The Video" feature that will be up
on their website soon.
We took the long way back from L.A. today, driving through the desert and then up the Central Valley
until we finally made it back to the bay, and then quickly headed out to a last minute Memorial
Day barbecue. A few beers and some sausage and chicken later, I'm exhausted and ready to hit the sack.
MP3 of the week: We sat around Saturday night drinking beer and listening to my brother's
CDs, and I really dug Rick Nelson's "Believe What You Say." And, even
though it's from *much* later in his career, here's Rick Nelson doing "Garden Party" with the Stone
Canyon Band. It's a song about his experience getting booed off the stage at Madison Square Garden
during a 1972 "oldies" show when he played the Stones' "Honky Tonk Woman" instead of just his own early
hits. Right on.
