(listening to: Built To Spill: "Randy Described Eternity")

New MP3 of the week. This Elefant record really grew up me upon the 3rd listen while driving back from Santa Cruz on Thursday (remind me to tell my tragic/glorious iPod story from Wednesday night). Nothing incredibly new here, but they play with some heart and some really nice dymanics. Enjoy!

I'm off to an all-day photoshoot and then to our big show at Berkeley punk-mecca, 924 Gilman Street, a venue I haven't even been to since my first band, Streets & Avenues, played there 6 years ago. Should be fun!

(listening to: Modest Mouse: Good News For People Who Love Bad News)

good news for people.

So, the album of the year arrived in the mail today, and I couldn't be happier. This has been my most anticipated record purchase since Kid A and it's a relief to know that a band who I've been following since they were wee-lads playing bars in San Francisco can still turn out such an excellent piece of work. Kudos to them, and dammit let's not have to wait three more years for another record. Now, if they could just work on re-tuning their live show...

It's also nice to hear the sonically glorious versions of these songs after listening to the recorded-off-the-radio version that's been circulating for the past couple months. It's also a relief Also included in my package is a live-album (very cool) and a poster (which is pretty ugly). Today I am a happy boy.

I'm also excited to announce that the first single from the upcoming Communiqué record, "Perfect Weapon,", is now available for download. Click on that link or visit radiocommunique.com to give it a listen. We'll be posting at least another song in the coming week, so stay tuned. Oh, and have fun dancing your ass off (I hope)!

(listening to: Radiohead: Hail To The Thief)

Oh boy, I've spent the whole morning in my office going back and forth between programming synthesizers and hacking out some html for the band's website. I think I need to get out of this hole!

Never fear, baseball is now here, and MRA and I are going to head to the A's game for opening night, where I promise to only think about beer and peanuts instead of effects routing or html tables.
